Alien Invaders is a five-reel slot with 20 paylines and high volatility. On each spin, 3 to 5 symbols can land on every reel, and the game uses a bottom-row mechanic: when at least three matching symbols appear there, the relevant reels activate and matching symbols explode to form a win. The base game starts with a 1x win multiplier, which increases by 1x for every 10 symbols that explode in a spin.

Wild symbols on reel three can pay when they land on the bottom row and may carry multipliers up to 25x in the base game. Scatter symbols also have a role in the action, triggering explosions when they reach the bottom row and affecting adjacent symbols in all directions.
